The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, the Brussels association through which 40 transmission system operators from 36 countries run the secure and coordinated operation of the European electricity system. It was established on 19 December 2008 by 42 TSOs as the successor of six regional associations and became operational on 1 July 2009.
