The largest utility company in the world, the Chinese state-owned corporation that operates almost all of the national transmission network from its Beijing headquarters, serving on the order of a billion customers. It was founded on 29 December 2002, when restructuring divided the former State Power Corporation of China into two grid companies, five generation groups and four accessory businesses, and it is the largest government-owned company in the world by revenue.
